ANNOUNCEMENTS

Descendents of the Roanoke Island freedmen’s colony who still live on Roanoke Island have established and incorporated an organization to preserve and celebrate the heritage of the Roanoke Island freedmen’s colony. Projects have included lectures, exhibits, and biannual celebrations of the colony. The organization would like to locate descendants who live throughout the world. If you are a descendant—or even if you are not a descendant but are interested in learning more about the organization’s activities—and you would like to be added to the organization’s mailing list, please contact Virginia Tillett.
